Cambridge garage and mechanical workshop

The British Antarctic Survey operates a fully equipped vehicles and mechanical workshop at its Cambridge offices. Before vehicles are deployed to Antarctica work is carried out in Cambridge to optimise performance and ensure maximum efficiency. A rolling programme to ensure reliability, testing and certification is managed from Cambridge, and there’s is often a requirement to carry our refurbishments and development work.

Vehicle mechanics who will be posted to Antarctica may be required to work in Cambridge to carry out overhaul work as well as training and attending conferences before heading south.
