Genevieve Hinde
Trainee Project Manager
Biography
I started working with BAS as a PhD student in 2017 whilst based at the University of Exeter. My research was focussed on the circulation of Southern Ocean water masses and involved two BAS cruises; the first across Drake Passage in 2018, and the second across the Atlantic portion of the Southern Ocean at 60°S (ANDREX) in 2019. Following my PhD, I moved to Cambridgeshire and joined BAS as a Marine Data Assistant within the Polar Data Centre in 2021. Within this role I collated the metadata from a series of historic cruises and prepared this information for inclusion within a marine database.
Although I have a strong background and interest in oceanography, I am also more widely interested in climate change and other environmental issues. This interest led me to take on my current role as Trainee Project Manager on the AIMP (Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme) Rothera Renewable Energy Project in 2022. The project aims to identify the road map to transition the current energy system at Rothera Research Station to renewable energy technology over the next ten years. My role supports the Rothera Renewable Energy Project Manager in the management of this project.
