**In the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales**

Scientists, business leaders and politicians meet HRH The Prince of Wales at British Antarctic Survey next week (27 May) to discuss the urgent need to develop new and longer-term policies for tackling climate change.

Guest speakers at this important event, organised jointly by British Antarctic Survey and the University of Cambridge Programme for Industry (Prince of Wales Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change), include the Rt Hon John Hutton MP, Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and Reijo Kemppinen, Head of the European Commission in the UK and leading scientists from British Antarctic Survey. Around 30 business leaders of major UK and international companies will participate.

Professor Nick Owens, Professor Alan Rodger, Dr Richard Phillips, Dr Robert Mulvaney (BAS) and Professor Corinne Le Quéré from University of East Anglia will present the latest research from Antarctica.

Rt Hon John Hutton MP – John Hutton was appointed the first Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) in June 2007. BERR will help create the conditions for business success and promote productivity and enterprise, across Government and within the EU.

HRH the Prince of Wales Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change has been developed by the University of Cambridge Programme for Industry.

University of Cambridge’s Programme for Industry seeks to help present and future leaders deepen their understanding of the social, environmental and economic context in which they operate and respond in ways that benefit their organisations and society as a whole. The Prince of Wales’ Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change ( CLG ) brings together business leaders from major UK and international companies who believe that there is an urgent need to develop new and longer-term policies for tackling climate change.

British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is a world leader in research into global environmental issues. With an annual budget of around £45 million, five Antarctic Research Stations, two Royal Research Ships and five aircraft BAS undertakes an interdisciplinary research programme and plays an active and influential role in Antarctic affairs. BAS has joint research projects with over 40 UK universities and has more than 120 national and international collaborations. It is a component of the Natural Environment Research Council.
