The annual Lyme Regis Fossil Festival took place last weekend (29 Apr – 1 May) with the theme ‘Marine Parade’ – celebrating the area’s marine fossil heritage. The festival included hands-on science, talks, exhibitions and outdoor activities and attracted an estimated 14,000 visitors. Hilary Blagbrough from the British Antarctic Survey gave a talk about the fossils found in Antarctica and what these can tell us about past climates and managed a display in one of the marquees over the weekend.
