A report by the Science and Technology Select Committee published in October praised British Antarctic Survey’s research in the Southern Ocean and quoted it as ‘truly impressive’.

The report Investigating the Oceans highlighted the world’s oceans as fundamental to the continuing ability of human beings to survive comfortably on this planet. It also called for the creation of a new marine science agency to oversee a national marine science strategy and a new overarching plan for the oceans.
