I joined BAS in 2019 following a career in industry as an R&D Chemist to develop materials for applications including laser marking and flame retardants. Previous to that I completed my PhD in Materials Chemistry (University of Manchester) – which focussed on the selective adsorption and separation of greenhouse gases using microporous metal-organic framework (MOF) materials. I have an M.Sci. in Chemistry (University of Nottingham) – which involved a research project on developing greener synthetic routes to drug molecules.

At BAS my main responsibilities involve looking after our precious ice core samples and maintaining and developing our ice analysis laboratories including our bespoke continuous flow analysis (CFA) system.
