As a geophysics data manager at the UK Polar Data Centre, I manage scientific data collected by the UK polar community with an emphasis on marine, terrestrial and airborne geophysical datasets. My responsibilities extend to all stages of the data life cycle including planning, acquisition and processing, through to reviewing and archiving, and onto analysis and dissemination.

The primary purpose of my role is to improve the Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability and Re-usability (FAIR-ness) of the data I manage. This promotes the reuse of datasets, increasing their impact, and helps ensure compliance with national and international data legislation and policy.

Research interests

I have a big interest in data management, open data and open science. Since 2017, I have been highly involved in the World Data System (WDS) Early Career Researcher Network and since 2022, I have been a member of the American Geophysical Union data management board.
