Sponsorship and fundraising – the BAS position
Support for expeditions and projects
British Antarctic Survey (BAS) does not provide sponsorship, fundraising support, or resources for privately funded expeditions, exploratory ventures or speculative projects.
As a publicly funded organisation, our focus is on delivering world-leading polar science and supporting the UK’s national polar capability.
Similarly, we cannot collaborate with or provide letters of support for independent projects hoping to incorporate sampling or citizen science into their expeditions. It is essential that BAS can stand behind the quality and rigor of any polar data collected and published against our name. Unfortunately, this is not compatible with accepting data or samples from third-party groups.
We are not in a position to provide financial support for external projects. Requests for in-kind support will only be considered where there is a clear alignment with BAS’s objectives, strategic priorities, scientific standards and commitment to delivering value for public money.
The BAS name, logo and brand must not be used to suggest endorsement, sponsorship, partnership or support without prior written approval from BAS.
