Sandra McInnes
ReDS Manager
I joined British Antarctic Survey (BAS) in 1980 working within ‘Birds & Seals’ and ‘Freshwater’. The role evolved into that of ‘Section Head of Scientific Consultancy (within BioSciences Scientific Consultancy and Services)’. Since 2009 I have worked within the Programme Office (now ReDS), essentially as a research facilitator providing mainly pre- and some post-award research grant development and administration support to the BAS scientific community; and also liaison/ support for collaborations and Agreements between BAS and external partners.
My main research interest is for the phylum Tardigrada and has run concurrently with my work as BAS. I am particularly interested in the taxonomy, biogeography and ecology of these microscopic animals. Tardigrades have a global distribution and current interest is in ‘when’ and ‘how’ tardigrades colonised Antarctica.
