I’m interested in how life works. I get a mechanistic understanding of how biological molecules fit together into pathways, from genes to proteins, and then try to build-up the picture to the whole organism level. My research aims to understand how Antarctic and temperate clams build their shells using a multidisciplinary approach (transcriptomics, qPCR, in situ hybridisation, immunology, physiology, field work and experimentation).
