Teresa Kyrke-Smith
Glacier Change Modeller
I started working at BAS in January 2015. Working with Hilmar Gudmundsson, I look at what inverse methods can tell us about the nature of basal control on the flow of Pine Island Glacier, West Antarctica.
As an undergraduate I studied Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, before completing my DPhil at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Richard Katz and Andrew Fowler. My research focused on the feedback between ice-sheet flow and the flow of meltwater at the bed. In particular, I addressed the importance this feedback has on the emergence of ice streams through the development of theoretical models and numerical simulations.
