Rahul Sivankutty
Climate and Ocean Model Data Analyst
At BAS, I am involved in following research topics
- Analysing ice-ocean-climate interactions in multiple climate models simulations for the past glacial and interglacial periods, from the Paleoclimate Modelling Intercomparison Project (PMIP) models.
- Generating/Analysing long term simulations for last interglacial period, with the HadCM3 model equipped with stable water isotopes.
- Understanding the southern ocean mixed layer properties in historical and future projections in Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6) models.
I did my PhD in Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, India, investigating the mechanisms for observed Indian ocean surface warming trends using an Ocean General Circulation Model. After my Ph.D, I did a 2 year Postdoc at NYU-Abudhabi, studying ice ocean interactions in Antarctic in an Earth system model. Before joining BAS in 2021, I was a Research Scientist at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research(IISER). Pune, India, where my research focused on understanding centennial scale variability of Indian summer monsoon in climate models.
