ISOL-ICE
This project collected a shallow ice core from East Antarctic Plateau to reconstruct past ultraviolet radiation and therefore the ozone layer for the past 1,000 yr by measuring the isotopes of nitrogen and oxygen in the nitrate ion.
Recent Master’s graduate from the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. My thesis involved lab and field work with the Centre for Ice and Climate research group working in the Continuous Flow Analysis team developing a novel, portable instrument for in-situ melting and analysis of firn cores. I have been at BAS since November 2017 as part of the ISOL ICE project where I analyse snow, firn and ice core samples for nitrate to establish a more than 1000 year-old proxy record for UV and ozone in Dronning Maud Land in Antarctica.
