Krill Hotspots
The aim of this project is to understand the biological and physical factors that produce the very large swarms of krill, or “krill hotspots” that are found in the South Orkneys region.
I have worked at BAS since September 1997, in the office in Cambridge and on the ships & bases. I have visited all the BAS bases, but have spent the majority of my time in the Antarctic on our research vessel, the RRS James Clark Ross.
I am a member of the ICT team, specializing in Linux/Unix and have been head of the Unix section since January 2013.

physicists, chemists, biologists, economists, and sociologists from 21 institutes in 11 countries across Europe assess the rapid retreat and collapse of Arctic sea-ice cover
Congratulations to British Antarctic Survey staff who have been awarded a Polar Medal in the 2025 New Year’s Honours List for their contributions to improving our understanding of Antarctica, through scientific or technical work in or about the polar regions.
