A new polar research ship for Britain: project delivery
A new research platform to put UK scientists at the forefront of polar science
After a career as a Marine Engineer culminating as Chief Engineer I transferred to overseas shore based employment engaged in shipping, steel rolling mills, aggregate and concrete production facilities including procurement, erection, commissioning and operating thereof.
In April 2013 I came to BAS as a Marine Engineering Co-ordinator for RRS James Clark Ross and RRS Ernest Shackleton, a position which I thoroughly enjoyed and fully undertook. During this period I was introduced to the New Polar Research Vessel concept design and was asked to assist in reviewing documentation and drawings using my previous marine engineering experience, this then led me to my current position of Project Liaison Officer for the New Polar Research Vessel (NPRV) project.
