Elaine Mawbey
Palaeoceanographer (THOR)
I am a Geochemist specialising in paleoclimate reconstructions using trace metal and stable isotope proxies in biogenic carbonate (foraminifera).
Employment
January 2020 – Palaeoceanographer, British Antarctic Survey
July 2018 – December 2019 Post doctoral Research Associate, University College London
December 2016 – July 2018 Post doctoral Research Associate, University of Bristol
May 2012 – December 2016 Research Technician, Cardiff University
Education
July 2012 PhD – Cardiff University
September 2006 – MSc Geochemistry, University of Leeds
September 2005 – BSc Geological Sciences, University of Leeds
Sept 2002 – HNC Chemistry, University of Huddersfield
Research interests
I am interested in the application of geochemical proxies coupled with sedimentology to reconstruct environmental changes in the Amundsen Sea. In particular to reconstruct changes in water mass/ocean temperature, and then link these changes to ocean-ice-sheet interaction.
