Alysa Fisher
Scientific Data Manager (Biological Focus)
Biography
As a biological data manager at the UK Polar Data Centre, I manage scientific data collected by the UK polar community, with an emphasis on biological datasets. My responsibilities extend to all stages of the data lifecycle including planning, acquisition and processing, through to reviewing and archiving, and onto analysis and dissemination.
The primary purpose of my role is to improve the Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability and Re-usability (FAIR-ness) of the data I manage. This promotes the reuse of datasets, increasing their impact, and helps ensure compliance with national and international data legislation and policy.
I am one of the data managers for the Biodiversity, Evolution and Adaptations science programme, and the Higher Predators and Conservation group within the Ecosystems science programme.
