Polar Perspectives – Exploring Antarctic Science: Royal Society of Biology webinar

Join British Antarctic Survey (BAS) researchers at a special webinar to mark Biology Week hosted by the Royal Society of Biology.  Our scientists will explore ocean biodiversity and its weird and wonderful adaptations to extreme conditions, and what Antarctica can tell us about our planet’s past, present, and future.

Discover how life exists at extreme temperatures, what cells can reveal about survival in the cold, and how new, cutting-edge technology is being developed to operate at sub-zero temperatures, helping us to understand life at the molecular level.

BAS research spans biology, chemistry, physics and engineering, bringing expertise from across disciplines to drive new discoveries and support efforts to tackling climate change for a more sustainable future.

Hear from BAS speakers:

Professor Dame Jane Francis FRS, Director
Matt Bell, Marine Biologist
Professor Melody Clark, Project Leader
Professor Lloyd Peck FRS FRi FRSB, Team Leader

They will discuss their unique careers and the importance of the vital research they carry out. This will be followed by the opportunity to ask questions during a panel Q&A.

This event is open to all and free to attend. Advance booking is essential via the Royal Society of Biology website.
Booking will close on Thursday 15 October at 23:59.
