Is there a Universal Temperature Dependence of metabolism?
Read more of: Is there a Universal Temperature Dependence of metabolism? In a challenging and provocative paper Gillooly et al. (2001) have proposed that the metabolism of all organisms can be described by a single equation, * Q = b0M3/4e−E/kT, where […]

Coupling between substorms and ULF disturbances at polar latitudes
Read more of: Coupling between substorms and ULF disturbances at polar latitudesThe trans-Antarctic search-coil magnetometer network has been used to study a possible coupling between the nighttime substorm activity and the behavior of ULF pulsations in the dayside cusp and nightside […]

Lidar observations of polar mesospheric clouds at Rothera, Antarctica (67.5 degrees S, 68.0 degrees W)
Read more of: Lidar observations of polar mesospheric clouds at Rothera, Antarctica (67.5 degrees S, 68.0 degrees W)Polar mesospheric clouds (PMC) were observed by an Fe Boltzmann temperature lidar at Rothera (67.5degreesS, 68.0degreesW), Antarctica in the austral summer of 2002-2003.The Rothera PMC are much weaker, less frequent, […]

A statistical comparison of SuperDARN spectral width boundaries and DMSP particle precipitation boundaries in the nightside ionosphere
Read more of: A statistical comparison of SuperDARN spectral width boundaries and DMSP particle precipitation boundaries in the nightside ionosphereThe boundary between quasi-dipolar (closed) geomagnetic field lines and those connected to the interplanetary magnetic field (open) is a key diagnostic for the magnetospheric system. This study presents an HF […]

Measuring the dayside reconnection rate during an interval of due northward interplanetary magnetic field
Read more of: Measuring the dayside reconnection rate during an interval of due northward interplanetary magnetic fieldThis study presents, for the first time, detailed spatiotemporal measurements of the reconnection electric field in the Northern Hemisphere ionosphere during an extended interval of northward interplanetary magnetic field. Global […]

An investigation of latitudinal transitions in the SuperDARN Doppler spectral width parameter at different magnetic local times
Read more of: An investigation of latitudinal transitions in the SuperDARN Doppler spectral width parameter at different magnetic local timesLatitudinal transitions from low to high Doppler spectral width in backscatter measured by the Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN) are now routinely used as proxies for the polar cap […]

Robustness and scaling: key observables in the complex dynamic magnetosphere
Read more of: Robustness and scaling: key observables in the complex dynamic magnetospherePlasma transport and energy dissipation in the driven dynamic magnetosphere are intermittent (bursty), and occur on a range of spatiotemporal scales. System observables such as geomagnetic indices, and auroral images, […]

Amphipod crustacean size spectra: new insights in the relationship between size and oxygen
Read more of: Amphipod crustacean size spectra: new insights in the relationship between size and oxygenOxygen availability limits the maximum potential size attainable in benthic gammaridean amphipods from the suborder to the generic level, while also influencing size within species. In this paper we investigate […]
