Preparation of aqueous standards for low temperature x-ray microanalysis
Read more of: Preparation of aqueous standards for low temperature x-ray microanalysisA technique, using Nuclepore polycarbonate membrane filters as a containing medium for very small volumes of ionic standard solutions, to produce homogeneous ice standards is described. The standards are suitable […]

Polar lows and arctic instability lows in the Bear Island region
Read more of: Polar lows and arctic instability lows in the Bear Island regionThe study of the “polar low episode” over the northern parts of the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea from 12 December 1982 to 16 December 1982 is continued. The […]

the granites of northern Patagonia and the Gastre Fault System in relation to the break -up of Gondwana
Read more of: the granites of northern Patagonia and the Gastre Fault System in relation to the break -up of GondwanaThe transcurrent Gastre Fault System in central Patagonia, which is closely associated with subvolcanic granite emplacement, is recognized as a major dextral shear-zone and geological boundary. We propose its equivalence […]

The respiratory system of the femaleVarroa jacobsoni (Oudemans): its adaptations to a range of environmental conditions
Read more of: The respiratory system of the femaleVarroa jacobsoni (Oudemans): its adaptations to a range of environmental conditionsThe morphology of the respiratory system of the femaleVarroa jacobsoni (Oudemans, 1904) is described. The mobile, appendage-like, emergent peritreme may be ‘raised’ to lie against the ventral integument or ‘lowered’ […]

Late quaternary changes in Antarctic bottom water velocity inferred from sediment grain size in the northern Weddell Sea
Read more of: Late quaternary changes in Antarctic bottom water velocity inferred from sediment grain size in the northern Weddell SeaNewly formed bottom water (θ ≤ −0.7°C) in the northern Weddell Sea flows E or NE at speeds up to 10–15 cm/s, with velocity decreasing towards the centre of the […]

Antarctic Marine Primary Production, Biogeochemical Carbon Cycles and Climatic Change [and Discussion]
Read more of: Antarctic Marine Primary Production, Biogeochemical Carbon Cycles and Climatic Change [and Discussion]In the Southern Ocean, inorganic macronutrients are very rarely depleted by phytoplankton growth. This has led to speculation on possible additional CO2 drawdown in this region. However, the effects of […]

Toward an optimum receiving array and pulse set for the Dynasonde
Read more of: Toward an optimum receiving array and pulse set for the DynasondeThe accuracy and efficiency with which radio echo parameters may be estimated by a programmable ionosonde of high resolution depend upon software-designed strategies of pulse set design and receiving antenna […]
