A review of unmanned vehicles for the detection and monitoring of marine fauna
Read more of: A review of unmanned vehicles for the detection and monitoring of marine faunaRecent technology developments have turned present-day unmanned systems into realistic alternatives to traditional marine animal survey methods. Benefits include longer survey durations, improved mission safety, mission repeatability, and reduced operational […]

An analytical derivation of ice-shelf basal melt based on the dynamics of meltwater plumes
Read more of: An analytical derivation of ice-shelf basal melt based on the dynamics of meltwater plumesThe interaction between ice shelves and the ocean is an important process for the development of marine ice sheets. However, it is difficult to model in full detail due to […]

Blue carbon on polar and subpolar seabeds
Read more of: Blue carbon on polar and subpolar seabedsWhen marine organisms eat and grow they capture and store carbon, termed blue carbon. Polar seas have extreme light climates and sea temperatures. Their continental shelves have amongst the most […]

The physical properties of quartz-micaschist and their application to freeze-thaw weathering studies in the maritime antarctic
Read more of: The physical properties of quartz-micaschist and their application to freeze-thaw weathering studies in the maritime antarcticAs part of a study on freeze‐thaw weathering in the maritime Antarctic an investigation was made of the physical properties of the local rock. Tests were made of point‐load compressive […]

Continental magnetic anomalies and the evolution of the Scotia arc
Read more of: Continental magnetic anomalies and the evolution of the Scotia arcLinear belts 50–100 km in width of long-wavelength positive magnetic anomalies exceeding 500 nT are observed on continental blocks of the Scotia arc. The most developed is the West Coast […]

Crustal structure of the area around Haag Nunataks, West Antarctica: new aeromagnetic and bedrock elevation data
Read more of: Crustal structure of the area around Haag Nunataks, West Antarctica: new aeromagnetic and bedrock elevation dataFive thousand line kilometers of new airborne geophysical data are presented from the area between the Antarctic Peninsula and Ellsworth Mountains. The surveys involved total-field magnetic measurements complemented by simultaneous […]

Thicker shells compensate extensive dissolution in brachiopods under future ocean acidification
Read more of: Thicker shells compensate extensive dissolution in brachiopods under future ocean acidificationOrganisms with long generation times require phenotypic plasticity to survive in changing environments until genetic adaptation can be achieved. Marine calcifiers are particularly vulnerable to ocean acidification due to dissolution […]
