[Comment] New zircon radiometric U-Pb ages and Lu-Hf isotopic data from the ultramafic-mafic sequences of Ranau and Telupid (Sabah, eastern Malaysia): Time to reconsider the geological evolution of Southeast Asia?

Tsikouras et al. (2021) interpret Miocene zircon U-Pb ages from ophiolitic rocks in Sabah, Malaysia, as magmatic ages related to southwest propagation of Sulu Sea spreading into onshore Borneo, even though the ophiolites and associated intrusions east of Telupid yield Mesozoic ages (Graves et al., 2000; Burton-Johnson et al., 2020). For the following five reasons, we believe these new zircon ages have been misrepresented to fit a tectonic model:
