BAS scientist Huw Griffiths will be speaking at Lyme Regis Fossil Festival about microplastics in the Antarctic and Southern Ocean. Despite the remote location, delicate and unique Antarctic and sub-Antarctic ecosystems are threatened by plastic pollution. This talk will explore where the pollution comes from and how it is affecting the environment.

The Fossil Festival is one of Dorset’s largest science festivals and is set in the heart of the magnificent Jurassic Coast.

BAS will also have an exhibition stand in the pavilion featuring fossil samples, polar survival gear and examples of plastics pollution.

The talk is at 3.30-4.30pm on Saturday 4th May

Venue: The Marine Theatre
